The Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) is an international nonprofit organization working to build vibrant communities where people have diverse choices for how they live, work, and get around… believing that well-designed cities and neighborhoods are crucial for our health, economy, and environment. CNU has created a number of planning tools that are freely available to municipalities and decision makers. The widely-used base SmartCode is supplemented by a number of plug-in modules, offered through the Center for Applied Transect Studies. CATS has commissioned numerous transect-based Modules from prominent New Urbanist practitioners. Most Modules are annotated with advice for calibration. The downloads below are free and open source.
